The Labyrinth 2019
October 12-14
Hodaigi Campgrounds

We begin a new cycle in a new home, the campgrounds of Hodaigi in beautiful Minakami, to celebrate with music, nature, and sound.
The best of avant-garde electronic music: psychedelic techno and house, deep experimental and ambient, and everything in between.

Music is this weird, wonderful thing. We believe it should be respected as such. We also believe music most comes alive as ritual. The music of The Labyrinth forms a 3-day ritual story—three cycles of rising, dancing, and falling. The artists work as a team to soundtrack the tick-tock of nature’s clock, with the goal of achieving integration—with self and others, with nature and sound—through dance.

We are privileged to use a special place this year, Hodaigi Campgrounds, as we move The Labyrinth one level deeper into Autumn. The leaves start to turn crimson, and the stars are bright in the October nights. Choose to camp in a forest or under the open sky facing mountains. Please treat these beautiful grounds with care and respect so they become The Labyrinth’s new home for this new cycle.

Ceremonies have always been enhanced by musical technology. Our simple goal is the purest form of sound, but we take decidely non-simple measures to arrive there. Vintage secret weapons, maniac cables, esoteric phono stages & DA converters, Funktion-One speakers, the godly ARS 6700 mixer, and, most importantly, ears always focused on the frequencies, constantly tuning the sound for each moment.

Looking back on Last year…

“There are at least two kinds of games.
One could be called finite, the other infinite.
A finite game is played for the purpose of winning,
an infinite game for the purpose of continuing the play.”

— James P. Carse, Infinite Games
